People may have to start using dialling codes to make local calls because of a shortage of phone numbers.

http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/8690014.Brighton_and_Hove_could_get_new_phone_numbers/

Ofcom said Brighton and Hove is running out of numbers available for new lines.

Now the telecommunications watchdog is considering introducing new numbers for the city starting with a 1 or 0 after the 01273 code.

But the change will mean anyone inside the city will have to dial 01273 before making any call to an address within the area.

Ofcom has calculated that it will run out of numbers in the Brighton and Hove area within three years and the new measures would mean new numbers could be created without any existing numbers having to be changed.

To have your say on the plans visit stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/geographic-numbers.

As you may be aware, It is now possible for Orange customers to roam onto the T-Mobile network in places where they don’t have Orange coverage in the UK

Your phone will use T-Mobile signal if it doesn’t pick up an Orange signal

Your charges stay the same when you use T-Mobile signal

Nothing else will change, you’ll just get more network coverage

To register for the service click on the link shown below

https://kareena.orange.co.uk/share/

Also don’t forget that you can use UMA on the Orange network. This allows certain devices to connect to the Orange network via a wireless router, useful if you don’t have coverage at home or in the office. Devices that have this technology imbedded in their software include Blackberry 9700 Bold, Blackberry 8520 Curve, the new BlackBerry Torch, I-phone 3GS, I-phone 4, Samsung Wave S i 9000.

Hi all. I am currently in the Canary Islands setting up two print businesses with VoIP based UK phone numbers. One of the companies retained their UK number. Primarily the two businesses wanted to offer a UK based number so their clients only pay normal UK rates to call them. As the calls are routed over the internet (via VOIP) to the overseas location the calls are routed free of charge. The result an internationally based business with a UK number with no forwarding costs. To find out more about how this works click here http://www.phoenixcommunications.co.uk/voip-call-forwarding/

Bye for now. David
