How does an 08 number work?

An 08 number simply terminates on a regular phone number. A caller then calls the 08 number and it rings on the landline where the 08 number terminates. 

 

Can I choose my own 08 number?

If you pay a setup fee of £10 you can choose your number from a range of numbers. If you are happy for the next available number to be assigned to your account there is no setup fee.

 

Do I need to install any new lines in order to have an 08 number?

No. When someone calls an 08 number, the call is simply forwarded to an existing phone number (predefined by you) e.g. landline, mobile etc.

 

Is there a minimum monthly bill for the 08 numbers ?

No – in the case of 0800 numbers you just pay for the calls you receive.  0844 & 0845 numbers have no charges.

 

What is the minimum term contract?

1 month.

 

Does it cost anything to change the target number?

No. You can change your target number (the number where you 08 number terminates) for free.

 

Can I divert the 08 number to my mobile phone or another type of number?

Yes - we provide an option for 08 numbers to be forwarded direct to mobile phones. The charge for this type of service is £7.50/mth. You can then manage the call forwards (diverts) yourself via the internet and change the target, whenever and as often as you like. With this service option you will be able to target the 08 number to all number types including landlines, mobiles, international numbers, other 08 numbers etc.

 

Can I point the 08 number to my existing phone line and use my own call divert service?

 

Yes - Your 08 number will automatically follow any diverts set up on your landline. For example if you routinely divert incoming calls to your mobile when you leave your office then inbound calls to your landline made on your 08 number will follow the divert to your mobile

 

Can I have an international 0800 number so callers from overseas can call me free of charge.

Yes. We can set up international freephone numbers in over 140 countries. Setup and rental fees apply to international 0800 numbers services.

 

Can I bring my existing 08 number to your system to save money?

 

In most cases Yes – we just need to check the number can be ported before we proceed. We can port in 08 numbers from most suppliers.

 

Do I still get Caller Line Identity (CLI) with an 08 number (BT 1471)?

 

Yes, you can still see the identity of the person calling you.

 

Is there a delay between someone calling an 08 number and them getting connected i.e. do they know they are being "diverted"?

 

No, calls are connected straight away.

 

How long does it take to setup an 08 number?
